The Entertainment Capital of the World!
That's a pretty bold statement, but with long standing residences, Cirque du Soleil regulars and massive stadium headline acts we think the city has certainly earned that right.
There are shows for every demographic and desire possible, but how do you know what you are paying good money for is worth it and that the whole family will enjoy it. Here's some of our tips and ideas to help give you a good head start.
Great value for money: Adjacent to the Strip is the super colourful Rio. In the process of a large renovation project this property has a wonderful family show which will have you all finding yourselves saying WOW over and over! The story line follows the transformation of a fisherman from a bad catch in the morning to a WOW in the evening. In true variety style it has amazing ariel acrobatics weaved beautifully through the show, roller skating daredevils, a plate spinning chef and the tension of watching Ms. Sylvia, with her second-to-none crossbow skills. There are VIP tables which seat 4 people at the front of the theatre which are extremely intimate with the performers as the stage protrudes outwards, so if you do decide on this be aware that you are only a few feet away from all of the action. Behind those are row seating which I personally prefer. In the next level up are larger booths looking center on to the stage which can accommodate around 6 people. when looking at the seating map I would recommend sitting in the first block of seats with the larger part of the stage to your left or right. Aim for semi-circle which start at the block after.

Family package discounts: Now who doesn't want to see 3 blue men banging loud drums and doing off the wall artistic things in a Pyramid? You do? Excellent, Blue Man Group is the show for you! This show has been entertaining people worldwide for years on end and never fails to disappoint. It is a very hard show to try and explain, but it is a must watch with the family. Make sure to keep an open mind as the Blue men in this small theater can turn up anyway and will do anything! Be prepared for a musical journey with impressive drums and music made from everyday objects (Ear protectors for the very little ones from the ushers). Make sure to get there before the show starts for some audience participation and try your very best not be late for the show as everyone will know about it! Due to the size of the theater, there are no bad seats in the house, so do not be discouraged by the cheaper back row tickets as you will still enjoy the madness. Kids under 1 year old are able to lap sit, anyone over this requires a ticket. MGM do offer good discounts for their rewards members (free to join) and regularly run promotions for family of 4 package deals or go all out and upgrade to the VIP package.

Worth the money: Over at the MGM Grand you can find KA by Cirque du Soleil. Set in Imperial times, this good v's bad tale contains explosive martial art fight scenes and a hydraulic stage which is very much part of the creation of the magic. Embark on the story of the twins on a perilous journey as they encounter love, conflict, and the duality of KÀ the fire that can unite or separate, destroy or illuminate. If you choose to spend the extra to sit down in the 101 section there really is not a bad seat, you will feel like you are thoroughly immersed in the show. Due to the vastness of the theater sitting further back than the first five rows of the 200 sections in not ideal. Aisle seats for this show will enhance the experience even more. Look out for discounted tickets through MGM Rewards, the box office or Concierge desks are the best places to buy the tickets.
Show Times: Weekdays 6pm / 8.30pm Weekends 4.30pm / 7pm

The classic: This is the show which started the Cirque ball rolling in Sin City. Perfect for children and adults alike, it a mystical journey of discovery seeing the world through a baby's eyes. With acrobatic and artistic displays including trapeze, Chinese poles and live music, the production has earned its place as a timeless Vegas spectacle. Due to the nature of the show and layout of the stage, with a semi-circle coming out into the theater, we suggest that if you want to be in the action the 100 section is best, try to sit a few rows back so as to not crane your neck too much. Think front row of the cinema. I prefer the right-hand side of the theatre as the live singers are on a balcony to the left-hand side, meaning that you can see them. Our personal preferred section is 204, or the back of 104, but even the back row is still a great seat with this show. Lap seating is available for the under 1's and covered under the adult ticket and child ticket pricing can be found for the 7pm performance.

With food: How about a journey back in time with Tournament of Kings. Located in the Excalibur medieval themed hotel this spectacular will have you feeling like King Arthur himself. The theater-in-the-round arena will immerse the whole family with real horses, jousting and pyrotechnics. Get ready to bring your loudest voice to cheerlead for your section as audience participation is a must. As one of the only shows to have dinner included be prepared to eat your food with your hands like a real Knight of the realm. There is a dinnerless option available, but why would you?! There are multiple caveats for this option, and they would need to be purchased at the box office only. Dietary requirements need to be submitted to the box office at least 4 hours in advance. Children under 3 may lap sit for free, but do not receive a meal. Due to the popularity of the show, planning ahead and buying the tickets in advance is highly advised, especially in school holidays. Also, watch out for 'Twas the Knight, the themed Christmas show around the holidays.
Show Times: 6pm / 8.30pm
Run Time: 75 Minutes

Magical: Magic is a must in Vegas, but with so many shows it is hard to choose just one. The magic of Jen Kramer at the Westgate is ideal for children 5 and older. She was named 2024 female magician of the year and is an expert in illusions and sleight of hand. She incorporates her unique comedy and audience participation into the show for an entertaining and fun show which works wonderful for all for the family. The shows start time is also perfect meaning that the kids won't be too tired afterwards and you can explore some of the great restaurants over at the Westgate. Aim for central seats in the first section if you can, or just try to stay in the central area of the theater
